Any VW DIY'ers here? I'm starting a VW site.

The site cosmetically isn't ready for a launch yet, so this is a "soft launch". But please, register and post if you would like to. It's 100% open for business. If you have suggestions for MVWS, please send them my way.

MVS Moderator and gentleman Abscate will moderate on MVWS as he does here. He has an air-cooled VW Beetle.

I plan to have it run like MVS: heavy emphasis on DIY questions/answers in the forum, with a VW Repair Database and Facebook page to highlight the best/most useful VW info.

I've never owned a VW. So why VW? The decision was partially driven by this poll, partially by the fact that my ex and my mom both have 2012 Jetta Sportwagens, and partially by the fact that there are tens of millions of them on the road.

I did however drive a 1600cc sand rail day in and day out for one or two weeks per year in the 1990s, when I'd visit San Felipe, MX. That was... incredible. Go anywhere, do anything, just take a lunch.

Driving that rail isn't reason enough to start a big VW site, I know, but it's something. A quarter century ago I owned a '78 Porsche 924, Euro spec, back when you could still import and license those. That was a fun car, a good example of "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than to drive a fast car slow."

Will this affect this site? No. Now that my son is in kindergarden, I have uninterrupted weekdays. And my freelance web dev workload is very low now.

Besides, it's not me that writes all this great Volvo stuff, it's this community. My role here has been moving to custodial/maintenance for years now.

Anyway, if you or a friend or family member have a VW, please send them to my new site. It will have the same enforced civility, and a high focus on DIY, just like MVS has.

Thanks
Matt
