Hello. So working on 2001 v70
Previous mechanic pulled main crank pulley and timing gear then replaced oil pump o ring and seal.
Problem is he didn't mark the timing properly on the crank in relation to the cams. He eyeballed it.
Car starts and runs poorly idles up and down on it's own, no power.
So the timing is off. Not by much but still off. He told me he marked the timing gear in relation to the block but when he pulled the timing belt gear off, he used a puller and by mistake rotated the crank by about an inch. So when he went to put the timing belt gear back on, he guestimated about an inch.
So.
I can rotate Crank around to see the two cut teeth on the timing gear but we already know it's not accurate. So this method does not help.
Does the Crank shaft have any identifying marks I can use to align with cams? I can't rely on the timing gear marks
As well, I have an oil leak somewhere on that side. It appears to trickle down the block just below the black plastic backing that covers the engine block and the cam tensioner mounts on the outside of it. I can't see the leak and thought if it was the intake or exhaust cam seals I would see oil on the cam gear but I don't.
Please advise.
Thanks

I know he probably got it close, but this has to go into the books as a fundamental lack of understanding of how motors work. You have to scratch this business off your list.
