volvo 850 2.5 10valve compression

hi
not sure if this is good or bad

got the garage to do a compression test today the test was

cylinders(1)=180 (2)=180 (3)=180 (4)=190 (5)=185

any ideas if there is something wrong
mileage is 180442

That's pretty good compression. I would rule out oil getting past the rings into cylinder #4 unless your oil ring on that piston is stuck closed.

I have just seen today an egine torn down that had good compression rings but had the oil ring stuck closed because of carbon and sludge. The oil ring slushes oil into the lower cylinder and comes back and squeegee it off on the down stroke of the piston. If it is stuck close or is worn oil gets into the combustion chamber. Try the Auto RX stuff people are swearing by on this forum it won't hurt. The thread is at the top of the forum.

Is your check engine light on? I'm not sure if you are in the states or not, but most autoparts stores will read your codes on your car for free. This would be the next step I would take. It really is the first step with Volvos. After you get your codes read if there are any post them. There are plenty of people that can help steer you in the right direction on this forum.

there is no codes or engine warning light on,,,,,,,im in england,
im going to do a oil change at the weekend and flush it see if i can clear some crap out of the cylinders who knows it might work thanks for the help
