ok so here's what happened. I'm on the Calif fwy at 3:30a going to work and doing about 70mph and everything was going along fine and then the "check engine" light comes on and zip....no more power. So I pulled over, called AAA who then tow the car back home. Battery ok, oil ok, new radiator and fluid ok. So here's a little background. In the past 3 weeks the a/c hasn't been working. Fan is on but no cold air...sometimes. Also, when going up a hill...if the car is working a bit...then the air stops blowing thru the vents. The air comes back on when the car gets back to level ground or isn't laboring so much as on a hill. Mechanic in another area of the state said it could be vacuum valve/vacuum motor. Of course, everything was fine with the car when he looked at it 2 weeks ago. Ithasn't had any major probs in the last 7 years that I've owned it and there was no warning before the engine just died this a.m.
Kinda vague all this...and I apologize. But just wondered why the "check engine" light would come on all of a sudden and then the car dies. ??
Any clue so I might know where a mechanic may go with this? I really appreciate the input.
