Re: Alarm System Service Required
Have you tried to clean it up and see what is damaged? I restored couple of them, nothing was really burnt except of few traces.

hi, yeah i tried to clean it up and bits of the track were falling out, the back side is really burned. Also found a picture of the front of the board online in perfect condition and compared it. A few of the tiny square are they resistors? are completely missing, burned away
Don't think it would be worthwhile to get a used one out a scrappy as chances are it will be in same state and i don't have £155 to drop on a siren so kinda stuck which is a pain as used to fixing whatever is broke.
My local scrappy said he doesn't even sell them as they are always not working on the cars.
I'll have a go at trying to repair it tomorrow as nothing to lose. Jumped the gun and ordered a battery in advance aswell as was cheap. Problem is the wires on the connector plug from the old battery to circuit board i need to solder to the new battery are soild / think they're burnt and are brick hard and like uncooked dry noodles will no doubt break easily.

Hello All
I have recently had the "Alarm System Service Required" message persist on my 2006 V70 D5. I looked early at all the forums and immediately embarked on the replacement of the NiMh battery in the siren. I removed it, cut it open and the PCB and entire inside of the unit was completely spotlessly clean! No leaking battery, no damaged PCB. For good measure I changed the original battery for the replacement that I had purchased (for 20 quid prior) to cutting the siren open. Connected up the new battery and put the siren back in the car. I tested the alarm and siren by setting the alarm using the key fob, waiting for the alarm to fully set, then opening the door with the key. The siren sounds as it should. The indicators flash as they should. So I can only conclude that the alarm and siren unit are 100% functional? Correct? But when I switch on my ignition I still get "Alarm system Service Required" Arrggghh!!! So I tried using the key fob to lock and unlock the doors three time in quick succession. That made no difference - Still have "Alarm Message Service Required!. Tried locking and unlocking the car at the drivers door with the key three times in succession. That made no difference!
What will it take to get ridf of this message - and is there any option that does not involve paying hundreds of pounds (that I cant afford) to a Volvo dealer?
Most grateful for any good advice

Arent DiCE and VIDA only available from a Volvo dealer? So I have to pay a dealer to clear this code? No better option?
Has anyone bought and used a iCARSOFT i906 from http://www.ukprodiagnostics.co.uk/ and used it specifically to the UEM-0004 code (that I am told) triggers the "Alarm System Service Required" message in a Volvo 2006 V70?

No need for all the histrionics to replace siren module if you use the 'remove front bumper' technique. This alone puts the **** up[ people, but it is true. Removing the bumper is easy and quick. More importantly, it enables the module to be removed/replaced simply by the loosening of two 10mm nuts that hold the module to the bracket. The major design flaw of the Bosh unit is that the battery is at the top, above the logic board. When inevitably it fails it leaks highly corrosive sodium hydroxide solution. Immediatley the battery leaks it destroys both the battery connections and the logic board and surface mounted components. If when you replace the siren module with a new one, then you invert it when fitting, so you will avoid these issues. The battery WILL eventually fail but it will not destroy the unit, so the battery can be replace.

You need to cut cage for the connector placed upside down.nickbw898 wrote:If when you replace the siren module with a new one, then you invert it when fitting, so you will avoid these issues.
