1998 V70 control arms for the budget shopper

Ok, I know the control arm debate is a recurring theme here, but I am on a tight budget.

As of November 2015, what is the best source for control arms for the "budget" consumer?

I'm not buying OEM Volvo, but I don't want the absolute cheapest either. Please let me know a good middle of the road brand that is on the less expensive side. Thanks.

Everybody else is going to tell you otherwise but I've had fantastic luck with the control arms from fcp. Just installed a set on another car I bought.

Of the prior 3 sets I've installed the newest has about 30k on them..... No issues. The set I put on my sister in laws car has 60k on them. She's an idiot and abuses that car.

Every set I've installed has been on a car with a fresh set of supporting components or everything else in the front end had zero play.

Those are about the only thing I'll go aftermarket on. That's just me, I've had zero issues with them.

Lemforder. On sale now at FCP Euro. That said, I have TRW's on my car now that I got from Amazon for about $55 each back in 2014

Currently FCP carries Febi, Meyle, TRW, Karlyn, Lemforder and factory Volvo. Which ones do you use?

Lemforder is OEM and is about $100 or so.

Moog is apparently good too. The Jeep people use MOOG all the time.
Moog control arm for Volvo 850 and 1998 S70 is about $50.

For 850 and up to 1998 S70, MOOG makes control arms and the PNs and sell for much less than Volvo OEM:
- LEFT MOOG RK620193....$48 on amazon dot com.
- RIGHT MOOG RK620194....$48

Lemforder is the OEM Volvo part and will last 160,000km (100,000 miles), if you can get a good deal on it it is your best choice.

TRW is a well respected OEM supplier, they supply Volvo with the Steering and tie rods. I have TRW brake pads and they are amazing, excellent bite.

Meyle is a pretty popular aftermarket brand for Volvo and German makes.

Karlyn and Febi prices are pretty low, not sure of the quality.

I bought two lower control arms from Autohausaz last summer for $40.00 each. The one I replaced was a Volvo brand. I placed them side by side on a table outside on a sunny day. They were identical to the finest detail —except the new one didn't have Volvo letters in the casting. I don't recall the brand name but I just checked their site and they're selling URO brand at the same price. If that's what they sold me it might be the best value around.

I put in Febis from FCP on my wife's car. They feel great. (But we also have new inner and outer tie rods, sway ends, and struts. So they better feel great!)
