Which Turbo should I buy?

Post by amhobby »

I have to replace the Turbo (siezed up) on my 95,000 mi 94 850 Turbo wagon. I am not sure which turbo to buy, the 13G stock replacement or the 16T. Will I gain anything by going to the upgrade turbo if the car is going to stay stock otherwise? The cost diff is $400. Thanks

Not sure if a 16T will bolt up to a 94, so you better check with the VS guys first

Correct me if I'm wrong, not sure but I thought the 850's had 15G stock. Not sure if the 1994 was any different.

I think you are correct. What you really need to determine is straight flange off of the turbo or curved flange. 16T on mine has a straight....not sure what the '94 has....not that either won't work...just might have to have a piece custom made if you get the wrong one.

Less bottom end, more top end power.
The larger the turbo the longer it takes to spool up, so you have less off the line power but a pretty good punch over 3000 rpm
