I replaced the timing and serpentine belt last weekend and that was fun! excellent video from IPD that provided me with the confidence to attempt such a project. brought flashback of replacing the water pump on a nissan maxima that I would never attempt again!
anyway noticed the turbo was wet with oil with a slight oil drip and the intercooler hose/pipe has oil residue. where do I start to diagnose and perform a repair to stop the leak?
car uses a quart to 1000 miles.
thanks
2007 xc 70 turbo oil leak- 140k miles
One quart in 1000 miles seems excessive. Not unusual having oil residue at the turbo air piping. The oil comes from the PCV system. During boost conditions, engine crankcase vapors are vented into the turbo inlet. Have you done a glove test to check for a properly functioning PCV system? The quick glove test is to place a thin latex glove over the oil fill opening. At engine idle, the glove should not inflate. If it inflates, the PCV system requires servicing. Many videos and threads on the internet. Good luck
