I have 143k on her now and the belt was replaced by the dealer at 72k. As per the manual I need to replace every 70k right?
What extra parts should I replace while I'm in there? I'll be buying the parts from FCPGROTON.
Thanks,
Wes

If the tensioner pulley and water pump are still the originals they should be replaced. Remove and spin the idler pulley, if it's noisy, replace it. Mine was bad at 150k. If there is any leakage showing on the tensioner, it needs replacing.
Somehow I made it 20K over the specified replacement schedule... or i changed it 20K in to the parts. Honestly I have no idea because I don't have any records from the previous owner of my car. As a preventive measure I changed the following parts:
Both Idler and Tensioner Pullies.
Timing belt
Timing belt tensioner
Waterpump (went aftermarket, because of price, but i probably would feel more secure if it was the genuine volvo part).
Now in hindsight, i should've changed the camshaft seal gaskets too... since everything was taken apart.
The reason why I went with all the major parts of the timing system is because I don't want to risk a major failure (although it can still happen randomly) and I want my 850 (which is the same year as yours) to last as long as possible, because I really can't afford a brand new car yet (i'm a college student just needing to get around), and its cheaper to maintain this car than to get another one. This car has been so good to me, i want to keep it running as long as possible as it also proves to most economical for me, even when I graduate and have a job...
