91 240 wagon - relationship between speed sensor and engine ignition?

Post by e777 »

Hello,

My wife's 91 240 wagon was idling roughly for a few days and now it won't start. As I was making my way through the Bentley manual ignition trouble-shoot check list, I noticed that the speed sensor appeared as one of the items to check.

This caught my attention because the speedometer, odometer, and trip meter stopped working about a month ago, yet the car kept functioning without problems, until now.

I realize that there are a bunch of items I need to check for the no start, but before proceeding I wanted to see if there was a possible connection between these two problems.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the tip. Fortunately, the 240 starter switch is same as the one from my 86 740 parts car, so I will switch them out and let you know what what happens.

Put a test light on positive terminal of coil...do some electrical tests first.
