It's ok Erik, everyone's entitled to an opinion :)

If you read my thread I have tried multi prong NGKs for non turbos with no dramas. I can't believe that Volvo make their own plugs in the Volvo factory. There MUST be a manufacturer that supplies for them. If it's not the NGKs I mentioned, then they are a pretty good match for the OEM multi prongs.

For turbos the factory fits single prong so that is an entirely different conversation.

I installed the NGK Iridium BKR6EIX in my Volvos (1998 S70 and 2005 XC90).
Great spark plugs, good for 80K-100K miles.

Detail below...

I know you love those plugs. So you recommend them for non-turbos now, too?

NGK website lists Iridium (among others) for both turbo and non-turbo.

Heh, I like when you get a bit of a discussion out of asking a question.

So to summarize the info I got from here, multi-prong plugs are bad, unless they are either Volvo OE or NGK. The NGK will be more expensive ($55 incl intl shipping) for me to get here than the Volvo OEs ($35, no shipping required), so I'll get the OE.

LOL yes, of course NGK recommends a plug from their factory. I asked if *you* are recommending them; so you are saying the reason you do is because NGK does?? Not a big deal, just curious.

Yes,

We discussed this topic many times here:
- NGK Copper $2/each: lifespan about 25K.
- NGK Iridium $7/each, lifespan about 100K.

I have photos of NGK Copper at 30K, the gap has widened.
I have photos of NGK Iridium at 60K: gap is still within spec. However, even when using Iridium, I usually remove them at 50K just to clean the spark plugs threads, applying antiseize to prevent galling, and re-install them. At 100K, I replace them.

From the material $ stand point, it costs the same over 100K, but the gradual deterioration has a negative effect on fuel economy that is not obvious to people, so people lose money from inefficient combustion of gasoline.

Alas, I am facing multiple fails to get my point across in this thread :?:

I will try to spell out my question, all in one post:
You seem to love NGK Iridium BKR6EIX.
You have recommended NGK Iridium BKR6EIX strongly for turbo motors.
Do you now recommend NGK Iridium BKR6EIX for non-turbo motors, too?

This question is not at all about why you love the NGK iridiums, it is about fitment. That's all, just one question, thanks!

Thank you! I am surprised it is the same plug with or without turbo, very interesting, good to know.
