2000 Volvo V70 Key Reader Removal

Hello,

I have a 2000 Volvo V70 with a faulty ECM, which I sent off for repairs last week. The company which I sent the ECM to has now called me and said that they can repair the unit, but require the following parts from the car to do so:

Ignition key
The key reader
And the immobilizer

I have found a site that lists how to remove the immobilizer (http://ampautoprogramming.com/Instructi ... 0_V70.html) but I am unsure about the key reader. Where is it located, and how would I go about removing it?

The key reader is the antenna ring and it surrounds the ignition key cylinder on the steering column. It is curious that they need it, there is no programming involved with it. It is very easy to remove after after you remove the shell around the steering column.

Yeah, I'm not too sure myself. But if it gets my V70 on the road and running again, I'm happy to give them what they need.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll have a go at removing the key reader and immobilizer over the weekend.
