As you may know, several months ago I launched a Volkswagen site https://www.matthewsvwsite.com/
Since then, a hired gun and I have been posting on it, trying to get good content up*. I've also been buying traffic to it via Google AdWords, but that effort has not been successful in getting users to join and use the forum.
It's a chicken and egg problem. No posts = traffic doesn't want to stick around to make posts.
So here's my plea: Can you register and post there?
Questions, comments, VW experiences, whatever you'd like. Even if you don't own a VW. Maybe you've owned one in the past and want to post about it?
It's a separate forum, and I'm not sophisticated enough to combine the two users systems. If/when I do combine them, it'll help if you register the same user name as you have here, although it's not required.
I should have asked you guys first, before trying AdWords.
Anyway, thanks so much, in advance. I appreciate it.
Here is the forum: https://www.matthewsvwsite.com/forums/ and here is the Facebook page (likes help, shares help): https://www.facebook.com/Matthews-VW-Si ... 829907523/
Interesting note: MVS moderator and all-around great guy abscate has volunteered to moderate there too, when it becomes necessary.
Matt
* but there's no deep well of forum posts to draw from like there is here at MVS, so it's more of a scout around the Internet for interesting content, which isn't as "sticky".
I need your help

Why not taylour it to the local VW scene in your area, but of course anyone can post. You nailed it, places like VW vortex is so large it has the momentum and users people want. When I had my Prelude, I used to post on the Toronto Prelude site as well as Honda Tech. The local site was more friendly in nature. Or open a site that the market hasn't captured: not many Mercedes or Cadillac sites.
As for VWs themselves; they are charming vehicles with lots of character but they can be complete nightmares when they age. After the Mark II, they took a serious nose dive in quality and relability. Thats my opinon though but I hope what I wrote above can help!

Hi Matthew,
I'm happy to help, register, and post on your VW site. I also have an 06 Jetta and an 03 Passat in the family that I also work on. I'm phasing them out as I find the 850's easier to work on and more reliable. Thanks for all the great advice and help. I hope the VW site is as great of a success as the Volvo one.

I have registered on your Vdub site. May I make some suggestions? You definitely need a classified section for parts and cars. People are always looking for used parts and used cars. This will help with traffic coming to website. Like someone mentioned some of use aren't really VW guys but there should be a sub-forum for off-topic threads. Off-topic doesn't necessarily have to be about VWs or cars in general but should allow a range of topics. People like to have somewhere to go and shoot the chit.

A forum tailored to TDI owners would give them a place to rant and discuss the latest developments in their predicament.
