Update, the car is still as good as gold. Not once has it died. I have had the car for nearly two years now and this is the best she has run. I was contempating getting into the 2002 AWD XC70 I just bought but this engine is FAR SWEETER NOW.
My advice is JUST DO IT.

So she stalled~!! It was in warmer weather and it happened twice.
The engine has never felt smoother or had a better idle, but now I'm also looking into the fuel relay which should go in soon.
I'm still a die hard fan of the 5,000 rpm FIX, but more so for general smoothness and complete compression . If another car feels anything like the 960, especially after a HOT START I'm going to be planting the foot!!

Hey Guys just have to say I own a 97 v90 215K that had same issues with stalling out after running for a short while. Replaced coil packs, plugs, speed sensor, cleaned MAF sensor, Throttle body, Flame trap, Idle stab. valve. Bought some CRC Emissons Pass Fuel Cleaner and a new Coolant Temp sensor from O'reillys auto parts $35 bucks. Note I tested the old sensor using ohm meter and read 04.6 tested new sensor read 02.0. I also did that 1st gear running trick at 5,000rpm for 10 mins helped alot with removing the bad idle and sluggishness of the v90!! Have to thank you guys for troubleshooting that coolant temp sensor, was thinking maybe a fuel pump relay or Power supply relay A and B saved me alot of headaches!!

Coolant temp sensor. I just replaced mine and it starts right up and holds every morning. The tachometer bounces just a little at lights and there is noticeable shuddering.dyoung62 wrote:Peteco.... thanks i like the sound of that and rings very true... becuase the gas milage has been awful..... that would explain it...
