Is my timing belt off a tooth or two?
Re: Is my timing belt off a tooth or two?
Does anyone have the timing belt replacement instructions in a pdf. document for the 2000 S80 2.9L non turbo.
I have a question about the Volvo timing procedure that was posted by JDR, why does it not tell u to line the timing marks up in the procedure before installing the belt, it just says to turn vvt unit clockwise till stop and then install belt and. Then lock down outer pulley and. Then release, never mentions lining up marks? Please help I have a 2003 xc90 with 2.9l turbo with twin cvvt hubs and I can not get it to time right

If you haven't removed the hubs or sprockets from the cam shafts then you can ignore all the talk about turning them this way or that way, etc. That all pertains to the person that has removed the sprockets from the shafts and has to get them reattached in the proper clocking. (The hubs aren't keyed to the shafts as you would think they should be.)
Just get all three sprockets on their marks and make sure they are still that way after you've applied belt tension and turned the crankshaft through 2, 4, or 6 rotations. The VVT advance/retard will take care of itself.

well that's the problem the vehicle , had timing codes when I bought it and so I could tell once I had timed it that someone has had it all apart so I need to kno the proper procedure for setting the hubs because I have re-timed it and the marks are dead on and it still throws timing codes so I'm assuming the hubs are off
I have the tool , I need hub procedure but as I said before the procedure posted does not make sense because it does not tell u to align marks with timing cover before installing belt after holding pulleys to limit position
