I picked up a 16t at the junkyard today. I initially just wanted the exhaust housing, as the one I had was cracked. But I decided to bring the whole thing home with me. It has some slight in and out shaft play, so I'm going to attempt a rebuild.
Since the coolant ports are in different locations on the 16t than the 15g, I was wondering if during the rebuild process, if I could use the 15g CHRA with the 16t turbines and shaft and all the other guts? My other options would be using the coolant pipes from the V70 T5 (host car for the 16t) which I really don't want to do, or to have a machine shop tap the capped ports and cap the tapped ports so that I can use the 16t CHRA on my 850 with the 850's existing coolant lines, which I would also like to avoid if possible. If I can avoid either of these options by using my 15g CHRA with all the other 16t pieces, that would be ideal. I think that all TD04HL use the exact same CHRA, but I want to make sure.
Are 15g and 16t CHRAs interchangeable? Topic is solved
