I own a '04 S60 2.5T with 160k miles and recently I've been getting that "Reduced Engine Performance" message followed by absolutely no power when pressing the accelerator. The codes have been P2108 (ETA) twice and P2135 and P0221 (Accelerator pedal) twice. My question is, which one is it?? How should I go about troubleshooting this?
Iv'e looked at previous posts and they seem to go one way or the other, without any clear distinction. Many thanks for any input.

You should be able to remove the accelerator pedal sensor and measure resistance to see if it's smoothly changing. Inspect connectors too, of course.
I think your throttle body is Bosch, not the dreaded Italian job, which are really reliable.
I'll see if I can find APS numbers for my 2005 which are probably the same

Thanks for the pinouts. I'll measure the resistance today and see what i get. I do have the Bosch ETA. Apparently they can go bad also, just not as often as the earlier Italian ones did.

Gurus here will confirm but I believe you can go get one from a junkyard for 150 bucks and no software is needed.
Definitely way to go over new, which is about $500

Thanks mate. Checked the APS today and there are no spikes or flat spots. Looks like I'll be trying the ETA.
