FS: 1996 850 Wagon stick, $1800, Rochester, NY

Hi all,

Up for sale is my black 1996 850 wagon. This car was passed through the family and has always been incredibly well-maintained. It was repaired consistently by the same Volvo specialist (who only worked on 240s and 850s) while with my brother in Chicago, and has since been maintained here in Rochester by a close friend and mechanic with immaculate attention to detail (and safety). Soon after I brought it to Rochester it needed a new clutch and fuel pump, which were both done by a master Volvo mechanic. Recent repairs include newly done brakes (front and back), O2 sensors, and radiator, as well as regular oil, filters and the like. The car also has a full set of recent snow tires in addition to all-seasons.

While the car drives and starts beautifully, we needed something a little newer to haul the kiddo around in. The known issues with the car are:
- The odometer on the car is broken (at ~260,000), and so is likely over 300,000 now. Despite this being a relatively easy fix to replace the plastic gear, with the 1 year old running around I haven't had the time.
- The car was sideswiped on the street here in Rochester. Insurance listed that as totaled, when in fact it needed a new electric side mirror, and some trim. You can still see the effect along the driver's side, but the frame was unaffected, and everything functions properly.
- The vinyl cover on the stick shift is pulled away from the housing in the middle console - this is just cosmetic, and has been there since before I had it.
- Cigarette lighter is not functional, also true since before my time.

If you're interested please let me know. This car has always been unbelievably reliable, and given how it's been maintained I suspect that will be true for a long time. The only reason we moved on was to have a slightly more updated functions (like attachments for a car seat) for our son.

~Michael
