Missfire problems that have me baffled

Post by KStevens »

Hello all! I have the ets light and cel on and am pulling a missfire code in cylinder 4. I have checked and replaced the coil pack, plug, and injector in the cylinder. I don't seem to have the issues that come along with the bad ets module at all. I have a puttering at idle when the motor is cold, at highway speeds the car shakes as typical with misfiring, and when the car is warm it doesn't want to start right back up after turning the car off but will with a couple cranks. Could this be vaccum lines, computer signals to the injector, loss of compression in that cylinder? Should I just take her to Volvo and put her on the "big" machine for stricter codes?

I'd get the codes pulled at least as it will save you throwing parts at the car not knowing what area you are trying to fix.

Volvo in North America are not supposed to charge for diagnostics as I understand it, if they fix the car. Maybe clarify what the deal is.

The ETS light is pretty fail safe that you have an ETS problem. Look at the label and read the date code..if it's original it's probably a start of ypur problems

Definitely run a compression test on 4 before spending any money
