Old Volvo Wheels

Post by JeffHicks »

Hey Guys -

My brother-in-law blew up his old '90 240. It's odd how poorly engines run with no oil...

Anyway, he has a set of wheels for it that are sitting in the trunk. They're in fair condition. Let me know if you're interested.

Sorry I'm so late to respond, John. The body is "okay." Not bad, but not stellar. It's a 1990 240 Sedan.

Are you looking for the car, or the wheels? Nothing has sold yet, and we're located in Omaha, NE.

Here are the only 2 pictures of the wheels that he has.

Other than engine, is the rest of the drive-line OK...AW70 I assume. Is the Interior a basket case? Dents/dings/rusted on body? Ballpark price for vehicle?

I live about 230 miles away

thx

I posted pictures - obviously... :-)

To the best of my knowledge, the transmission is okay. One of the lines to/from the cooler was leaking, so he was adding fluid - something that, in a weird way, assures you that the fluid was always new.

I forgot that the car has a moon roof. I do not know if it works, but my guess is that it does - or easily could.

The body is remarkably good and rust free. The back passenger-side door has previously had some Bondo put on it, as you can see. Also, there is a little rust over the rear passenger-side tire. It appears to be surface rust at the moment. Most/all of the missing trim pieces are sitting in the trunk.

The interior is not HORRIBLE, but it's obviously not great. The headliner is in place.

He was driving the car every day until the engine just died on him. It might be something as simple as a coil, or the engine might be seized. I do not know. But buy it expecting that the engine is totally shot.

If you were to bring $500 cash, I'm sure you could haul everything off, including the extra set of wheels & rims.

Last I knew, scrap metal prices were down, down, and down.

Vehicle is too rough for my interest..ideally, I'm looking for an AW71L transmission, or stick setup.

The rims I'd have an interest, but shipping would be too much
