First, check that the gasket on the oil filler cap is whole, nice and pliant. It usually isn't, if it's original. A surprising amount of oil can come out there if it's cracked or broken.

Then, check that the top PCV hose is on where it's supposed to be - and tight with a clamp.
If both of these things are in order, then you have to pull your manifold again, and check that you routed all the hoses for the PCV system correctly, that your ports are clear, etc... basically, redo the whole thing. There aren't many places that oil can manifest from on top of your engine (I assume you mean under the spark plug cover - if it's on top of the spark plug cover, then it's definitely a problem with your filler cap gasket).

Definitely check your filler cap gasket if you didn't replace it along with the PCV parts. If this is an issue of the PCV being clogged again, replace those parts BEFORE replacing the replacing the gasket. That could just cause more pressure buildup and blow out a camshaft seal, head gasket, rear main seal, and the list goes on.

If you've just done the PCV and are now getting a lot of oil up top I would check that you didn't hook the oil trap backwards.

While there, remove the plastic cosmetic cover and store it away. That cover is nothing but trouble.
- If you ever get water underneath it, you will know, engine misfires etc. The cover covers it up!
- For checking oil leak, it is a snap w/o the cosmetic cover.

Yes
What they mean is, be sure the hoses on the oil trap are not backwards. The one that goes to the top of the engine can get switched with the one that heads off under the intake manifold.
