CV boot options were covered ad nauseum about a year ago, including and part numbers some vendors. Check this thread, https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=64252
I have been buying the GKN boots from AutuhausAZ for a few years, maybe you hit them at an unlucky time. Similarly, for at least 10 years Marty at raxles has been a proven, reliable option for rebuilds. As mentioned by Lee, pretty much every other source is at best hit and miss.

The more I read up on cv axles the more I suspect my axles need replaced, rather than just new boots. I have a definite clunk on deceleration.
Did find the GKN Loebro outer cv boots online though at www.carpartsdiscount.com.

Good find.
sleddriver, there is also a link a few posts above yours.sleddriver wrote:When I just checked NAPA's site, all the boots they listed were made by EMPI. Do you have a link or part number for GKN? Thanks.Ozark Lee wrote:If they aren't clacking then you can usually just buy the boots and stuff them full of grease. The GKN/Lobro boots are readily available from NAPA or CarQuest...Lee

No. According to AutohausAZ, the GKN part you linked won't fit on my 98 V70 T5:erikv11 wrote:CV boot options were covered ad nauseum about a year ago, including and part numbers some vendors. Check this thread, https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=64252

I now understand why they didn't appear when I typed in my vehicle info. This is what I saw:
Now if Autohaus is wrong, OK. I called, but they're already closed. I'll follow up later. If you say they WILL fit, then I'll take your word. If I'd known this when I ordered, of course I'd of gone with GKN....why not?
I'll read the link to the earlier thread and update my CV boot notes for future reference. Glad to have cleared up this confusion. Hopefully it'll help some other owners as well.

My mistake - I gave the wrong AutuHausAZ link, it was for the CV boot for non-turbo axle (93-98). You are correct sleddriver, the turbo axle takes a different boot, it has a larger outer CV.
Good news is, you can still get the GKN outer CV boot for the turbo at AutoHausAZ: http://www.autohausaz.com/pn/31256240.
Their catalog will tell you it doesn't fit a FWD T5 but it will. See the thread I linked, lots of good info there, many people have used that part number for that axle.

Last time I got a Raxle Axle, Marty was nice enough to send me some boots for my Turbo axles... so I still have them as well as grease. Hit me up with a PM and we can make a deal if you're interested in these. Not sure which is outer and inner so you'll get one of each or more if you want (I believe I have 4 all together).

To: Erikv11. OK. Thanks. That same boot ID was on the very page I posted "For outer boot kit only, use #31256240". Completely missed it! Rechecking my order, I did get the Rein kit as it had both inner & outer. The former were fine when I pulled the axle, so I still have them.
To: MIJ. Thanks for the offer and for the recommendation on Raxles. No clunking with mine yet. They were replaced long time ago as my indy said it was cheaper to replace axles than just boots due to labor. However, that means I also lost my OEM axles...rats. Didn't want to do that work myself back then.

Ordered a GKN/Loebro boot as ref'd above. It is indeed molded well and made of thick neoprene rubber. Very pleased to now know these are available. With that said, I'm not at all looking forward to having to redo this on the pass. side outer boot. Perhaps it won't take near as long as previously. I got stuck trying to open the circlip and hold it open while hammering off the end.
BTW, the outer CVJ's fit very, very tightly on the axle and I wasn't able to remove the inner "tripod bearing" from its cup at all. The ends has been peened over where the bearings would slide out!! I wasn't about to muck with that. Even putting the CVJ back on the axle required a pneumatic hammer with a chisel.
Watching videos it appears they just slide off/on. Please advise.
