Capacitor in igniting system harness

Can anyone please tell me the purpose of the capacitor in the ignition system harness located just before the 2 coil packs
I found the wire on one end was broken off inside when I was reassembling everything after a exhaust cam VVT phaser installation
The Volvo part # is 3457025
