2.4L turbo engine needed
2.4L turbo engine needed
ISO I5 engine w/turbo in good running condition and prefer less than 130K miles. Will pick up within the Midwest area or pay freight if needed. Need it for a '99 V70 AWD wagon. Thanks for any replies!

Would a 2.4 Liter engine with turbo from a 2001 v70 help? Sorry, to say I have no idea what an IOS I5 engine would be.
Not sure how one fits that into a 99 v70, but if you want a block, we can pull it, strap it to a pallet, and ship it to you.
Both engine and turbo are in fine shape - tranny died the death common to so many 2001 trannies.

1982 240DL: Drove it 32 years and 1.5 million miles (sold, even still had mint leather!)
2001 v70 2.4T: The most expensive $1500 car I ever bought ("Volvo Turbo" - what an oxymoron!) (sold)
2004 v70: Far less fatally-flawed v70 - It served well (sold)
2010 v50: Smaller, slightly sportier wagon. Its got a spoiler, so I upgraded with sway bars!

The engine is basically the same and it would work.

On the 2001, the 5th and 6th digits are "58", if that helps.
If other parts from the car would help, it is a complete running car, so you can have everything the engine compartment for one low price, including the timing belt, with not so many miles on it.

What is the 10th position of the VIN, a W (1998) or an X(1999)?
And/or just post the VIN, with an image of the engine with the hood open.

99 or later low pressure turbo engine is not a drop in for a 98 model with low pressure turbo. 99 and later has variable valve timing that 98 and earlier do not have.
97 850 GLT or 98 s70,v70, xc70, c70 low pressure turbo engines are the same.
If it is a 99 then the range of usable engines is greater.

That's why I made my post, OP needs to be crystal clear about what it actually is. E.g. if made in 1998 it could well be a 99, etc., we don't know where the year numbers are coming from. The VIN or a pic of the engine will be definitive.

The first post states it was a 99 model but later recanted. If its a 98, it would still be pretty easy to find a good engine.
The car is a 98 volvo v70 glt. It does not have variable timing, has a tensioner held by two bolts, the block has a crack in it, thats why I'm looking for a different engine, don't know if te old engine block can be repaired
