low beam lights

ok so my moms volvo is giving her the message low beam light failure, and weve replaced the light and after we did that it worked fine and than it started going on and off and than it would go off and we would tape the wiring harness tighter to the bulb location and now its just completly off and i have no clue what the problem is. can anyone help me, would be highly appreciated so that way she can stop using my car.
