Why so few P1 C30/S40/V50/C70 threads?

Post by 1337 »

The P80 (850/70-series) forums currently have over 37000 topics (threads). The P1 (C30/S40/V50/C70) forums here just celebrated their 300 topics. Where are all the P1 owners?!

Some ideas...
1. The P1 is so reliable that nobody has anything to talk about?
2. Too many P1 cars are still under warranty, so there isn't as much incentive to DIY?
3. Volvo didn't sell that many P1 cars? (I haven't checked sales figures, but I see P1 cars on the road in my area every day.)
4. Most P1 owners don't visit MVS?
5. Something else...?

1) I highly doubt that
2) very much possible
3) might as well be. numbers would be interesting
4) maybe they don´t need to - yet
5) I guess most of the P1 cars aren´t old enough to be owned by the "fix it yourself cuz a regular visit tot the mechanic exceeds the car´s value by far"-crowd yet. Plus, the older the cars get, the more help is needed. Give it a few years and the P1-forum will be pretty crowded too.

I don't know about all the rest of the reasons but the P1 activity is very much alive over on www.swedespeed.com I started with 850's and other Volvo's and became a moderator here. It wasn't until just this Feb. that I purchased a P1 car- I'm partial to this forum so I will keep posting here but if I need an answer about these cars (mostly mine), then I know I won't get much of a response here- I post over on SS.

Great question. Whatever the answer, I'll do this - I'll post more P1 stuff to the Repair Database. Starting today.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!
