issue with cabin air filter adapter?

So I went to put my cabin air filter adapter in and I have a sensor that sits at the intake for the cabin fan, its attached to the rain diverter. Although I can unscrew it from the old one, the new adapter has no place for me to attach the support to, has anyone else had this issue and come up with a solution? I will post pics later today of what I'm referring to

93 850 71030 miles ecc

I read in the factory manual or in the cars manual that it is either a sensor for the ecc or the exterior temperature sensor but I cannot remember which one at this moment

I've not heard of that sensor before being on the cabin air intake snorkel. It must be a '93 quirk (there are many). Most of the time the filter frame just sets in the hole and there is no fastener to secure it. If the sensor is like the one that goes on the air dam under the nose it just snaps into a hole and it should be easy enough to drill a hole for it. If you can post a picture we can try to help you figure out a workaround.

Sorry about that, I ended up going back out to work on the car and didn't have a chance to upload pictures

I don't have one of it actually mounted to the old one, I'll open it up today and get a picture of how its supposed to be. The wire, passes underneath the mount and plugs into the mount from the drivers side towards the passenger side to have the probe sitting in the air stream, I tried to see if I could get the probe to even go that far with the adapter and it cannot reach. Maybe I'll have to attach it inside of the adapter? Below the cabin air filter so that it is still in the air stream? I was very excited to see if my power steering worked so I didn't spend much time dealing with it. I'll take a look today

You could probably just screw the bracket onto the side of the new filter and not worry about it being in the actual air flow, The temperature difference in the air flow and just outside of the flow is going to be negligible if at all different.

That was the path I was thinking as well, but my concern was whether the wire would be safe being run underneath the adapter, I was afraid of the sharp angle of the sheet metal would end up breaking the wire, but I will figure something out. I just wasn't sure why there was no where to attach it to, makes sense that its just a 93 quirk lol

A double layer of good 3M electrical tape wrap will protect that wires, and you can inspect it annually each filter change as a maintenance protocol.
