Door Vinyl Pulled Away

Post by dbm123 »

I have two doors on my car where the door vinyl is sagging down towards the back of the door. I see this on other Volvo's sometimes... Is there a way to repair this?

Not a heck of a lot
They all do it at some point. Volvo used a new environmental glue that did not hold after a few years and what's left on your door has shrunk and not re-usable.

You have a couple of choices
Take it to an upholstory shop and have the inserts redone in whatever material you want.
Not an easy job as most of the time these doors just disintegrate when they're removed or...

Volvo used to make a repair kit with preformed inserts.
Still a very hard job but if done properly they'll stay good forever.
I happen to have 3 pieces out of a 4 piece NOS repair kit (no driver's door, I used that one) and would be happy to sell you all three or whichever piece(s) you need.

$25 per section or $60 for all three (charcoal)

We are working on a sturdy but simple and inexpensive repairkit called PANELPADS to solve this problem WITHOUT having to remove the panels of your car. We found the working principle already, still working on the finishing touch, and we will ship overseas. You can get more information on:

http://www.wolvengang.com/#!commitment-english/oj5uu

Or follow this project on Twitter #panelpads.

ATTENTION! Do NOT try to glue the vinyl back on the panel in whatever way unless you are an absolute upholstery professional! It will do more harm than it will help.
