It is rather odd that the cam sprockets landed in the same spots before. I had never heard of this. They should actually land randomly. Of course, if you need to work through the sprockets, you can always turn the crank shaft with a large socket wrench. Is there a reason you are questioning the timing? If it was off, you would 1) not run at all 2) run roughly 3) have a check engine light on for one or both of the cams being off... Post back to let us know if the car runs properly now.
