The main danger with the starter spray is singed eyebrows - it's a small amount of flammables, but in a vapor, it tends to go up all at once, in your face.

The TCV hoses are easier than they look. If you take out the airbox and intake snorkel, you got lots of room to get to all of them. Do one at a time, and you're sure they're routed correctly. Mine aren't color coded anymore, even, so I always do it that way. :)

ok well apparently my check engine light was burnt out so if it wasn't on before it is definitely on now with the new ect sensor. the problem didn't go away.

if it sits overnight, the first startup goes fine and the temp sensor VERY slowly moves to normal position. Any consecutive times after that it will sputter and sputter while its cranking and the temp sensor stays dead and it revs to 4k rpm before the temp sensor turns on again, or it will just crank and won't start at all. if the engine starts to get the hot the cooling fan doesn't come on anymore either. I thought maybe it's the cooling fan relay but that didn't change anything.

I'm thinking go to the junkyard get myself an actual volvo brand ect sensor, switch that back in, see if anything changes? I don't think this is a broken tcv vacuum hose issue.

What kind of ect sensor did you put in there? Also, you do know there are a multitude of other vacuum hoses, yes, not just the TCV hoses?

Yeah I know there are other hoses, just that one was the only hose i saw that was clearly broken in half. But a broken vacuum hose could still cause all these symptoms? The sensor I got was a new aftermarket one, duralast i believe, from a local autoparts shop. i used the cross reference #3545031 to order it.

Refer to list of OEM only items CTS-ECT sensor is one of those items. Might not be the problem but now there is doubt!

So the mechanic told me it could be the radiator. Seems when the engine first starts its okay but when it starts to get hot after some driving the radiator would leak a whole lot, put hot water back into the engine or something, maybe causing the temp gauge to go crazy. So i'm getting that fixed.
