You've got to really love 960s to pay $2k over book.

Eh, it's his right to ask whatever he wants and your right to ignore him or offer less money.

Do you really love 960s?

Re-reading my post from a few days ago up above, the tone seems off. I didn't mean any snark, or dissaproval of 960 model. It was more "How much do you love 960s?" in a rhetorical, self-introspection style. Because if you do love them, $2k over book might be a steal for a nice sample.

Several years ago, I gave $700.00 for a 93-944, which had a bad engine (rod knock bad), but it was/is rust free with clean exterior/interior.

Years ago, I gave $600.00 for a clean 1986 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with a locked up engine.

Both of these vehicles, and even two Berettas, were rebuilt so they could be driven without issues. Not counting my labor, I can sink around $700.00 plus in parts. Electronic parts (ECMs, ignition modules, etc) I generally wait for them to break, but wheel bearings, brakes, alternator, shocks, mufflers, radiator, water pump, hoses, oil/temp sensors, etc., get replaced.

If a vehicle owner can show that a vehicle has been maintained, and in clean condition, I would consider paying over "retail price." OP did not state the price, and KBB may or may not reflect true market price. I'm looking for reliable transportation, not a local beater, which needs service. If vehicle was driven locally (short miles), I'd pass it up.

The 960 Estate (wagon) received independent rear suspension in 1995. You should have looked more closely. The heater blower motor on the 960 is a GM part used on many GM cars.
