What happened to Showroom New trim dressing?
I bought some of this stuff a few years back when I only had one Volvo. I gave the leftovers to a friend. Now I've got another one that I'd like to save the trim on. The thing is, all I can seem to find out there is black stuff. But I'd like to keep the original gray, if possible. I'm also not interested in the bumper paint. Does anyone make a good gray dressing like Showroom New was? I wonder why they just disappeared? Seemed like they had a good thing going. With Volvo owners, at least.

Ive got a windshield cowl that's looking a bit dull and looking to do something about it too.
Has anyone ever tried this: Duplicolor Plastic & Vinyl Restore Coating PRC100?
http://www.duplicolor.com/product/plast ... re-coating
I'm looking for something more permanent that isn't a fuss needing to be reapplied all the time.
The other option I'm considering is a clear adhesion promoter/primer + uv resistant clear coat but I don't know if that's a good idea on black plastic trim. I can't think of any good reason it shouldn't work, but maybe somebody with more knowledge regarding paint compatibility can chime in. The duplicolor restore stuff says it lasts longer, bonds to the plastic yet not permanent. They don't state whether it's a lacquer or something else, just "silicone free".

I used the Showroom stuff as well with success. When I tried to re-order, it was gone. My search turned up the following, haven't used it yet.

The trick with the plastic trim is to hit it with a heat gun. Look around, the thread has to be somewhere.

I am using up the last bit of my showroom new grey now that I have my 855 back in my possession. Sad to see it is gone. May go the heat route but seems like more work and risk. The showroom new stuff lasts for years.

Windshield cowl was getting ugly on mine too. Removed it from the car, spray painted black then clear coated with krylon for plastic. The Krylon fusion clear has UV protection it should continue to look spiffy for a while. Just be sure to go over it with denatured alcohol before painting to remove oil/wax buildup that would interfere with paint adhesion. Other plastic trim on the car dresses up nice with eagle1 nanowax but for reasons unknown it didn't have the same effect on the cowl.
