1997 960 Climate Control Issues

Hi, I'm new to this community. My name is Jim from northern CA north of Sacramento.

I have an automatic climate control that is currently inoperative. The a/c light is flashing at start-up and continues a steady blinking. The fan motor is running on high and the heater is on- really hot. Regardless of what I do to the controls, the unit ignores those and continues to blow high and hot. I been reading about the code retrieval and tried the REC button after start-up within the time parameter of 2.5 secs. The a/c (green square) light continues to flash. I'm pretty handy with cars and have a better than average understanding of them. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
