My driver interior door handle broke a clip that holds the cable in place. At this point, the door lacthed just fine, but I had to open the door using the exterior door handle.
I bought and installed a new interior door handle, but now the door won't latch close. Once I remove the cable from the door handle, the door latches just fine.
Am I missing a step during the install process of the new interior door handle?

Sounds like the cable mysteriously shrunk. Can you check both anchor points to make sure the system is using its entire length?

When I remove the door panel and connect the cable to the door handle, the door closes and latches like it should.
Again, when I install the door panel with everything connected, the door will latch on the first try, but will not latch after that.

I don't know where to go with this. I helped a friend with a similar mechanism to yours a week ago (S60), so it's somewhat fresh in my mind. The cable anchor popped out of the interior door handle's cup. Easy fix. I don't know what to ask or give advice with on yours, sorry.
If you can upload some pics (upload to MVS through replying) or better a video (upload to YouTube and post a link) I'll share this to the MVS Facebook page and try to get it more views.
