Thanks all for the replies.

I thought the Autel MS300 would work on a 2006 XC70, but if there is one thing I know, it's that I do not know everything. I appreciate chief_bottlewasher confirming that it won't work on my car.

I took a look at the DICE readers as VTL suggested, but that would require me to purchase a Windows based computer. I, like abscate, do not wish to own a Windows computer. The cost involved of purchasing the DICE and the computer was also a deterrent.

I then looked at the Autel MD802 since two of you mentioned it was a good reader. I like all the features it has. After much debate between the Autel MD802 and the iCarsoft i906 I looked at earlier, I decided to go with the iCarsoft i906. The Autel MD802 has more features than the iCarsoft i906, but after just purchasing my XC70 and having to change the alternator, MAF, and AC compressor (I knew the car needed all these repairs before purchasing), money is a bit tight. So I went with the iCarsoft i906 because it was $115 less expensive.

The iCarsoft i906 arrived today. I plugged it in and it reset the check engine light after replacing the MAF to resolve the P0243 code. I was also able to reset the SRS light (which I had inadvertently set off by pulling a fuse).

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions as this conversation is what led me to purchase my new scanner. I appreciate it!

I have the Autel 619 purchased from Amazon. After my son completed the software upgrade on a Windows PC, it worked on my '97 850. It has also worked on the Mazda Miata & Ford F-150. It will do SRS, ABS, and check engine lights. I doesn't not cover the ECC in the Volvo 850 :( which I think the Autel 800 series would, but was ~$100 less expensive.
