turn signals don't work all the time; 2001 s40 - 65K miles

Post by rj0828 »

The turn signals are fussy. They only want to work when they want to. For the first 10 minutes or so, the turn signals don't work. Then, for whatever reason, they start working. On other days, they just work just fine. I didn't think it would help, but I changed the fuse. I hasn't made any difference. Any other ideas ??

Thanks.

Ron.

Ron, I suspect the turn stalk itself has a short in it...may be worth taking it apart and spraying the connections down with some electrical contact cleaner.

I agree. I have a 2001 S80 in which my problems were the same and they replaced the stalk under my extended warranty for a us$187.00 value.

Hi,

It turned out to be the hazard light switch. That seemed weird, but the service guy said that a lot of stuff runs through there. I'm not sure if that was right but it took care of the problem.

Thanks for the help.

Ron.
