1998 S70 locked in Park - need advise

1998 S70 locked in Park - need advise

I'm in dire need of help. My S70 (with almost 95K miles) suddenly won't unlock from the Park position. This just started today. I had to use the Shift Override to drive the car. Then, I have to disengage the Shift Override to remove the key. Has anyone experienced this? I'm going to make an appt with the dealer, but I don't always trust them and would like to have some idea of what the problem is. I do know that I don't have a good feeling about this.

Matt, thanks for the reply. I just checked the brake lights and all are functioning correctly. Any other ideas?

Sounds like the shift lock microswitch. Common problem... here's how to replace:
