This reliable car is near death. It's due for a timing belt and needs suspension work and brakes, and recently the transmission warning lights came on. But I've still been driving it locally, but putting it in 3, rather than Drive, to get around city streets because it's slow to engage from stopped in Drive. Then last week it suddenly got much worse: when I started the car there was a loud sound and all the lights on the dash lit up. I backed down the driveway and I could feel that although the car could drive, the power steering was no longer working, and also the A/C was not blowing cold, and all the lights on the dashboard were lit up. I pulled the car back up the driveway and haven't driven it since. I'll probably just sell it to the highest bidder for parts, but does anybody have an idea what might have just happened?
Thank you...

Do you know where the pulley came from?bimmy123 wrote:Yes, the serpentine belt came off and one of the pulleys has popped off. Any idea how expensive this repair is??

All you need is the missing bolt (probably on the highway or trapped in the engine covers) and a pulley. At Boneyard about $10 and it gives you a chance to see exactly where the pulley came from.

When Serpentine belts fall off, all you need is someone to hold a flashlight and someone to help you shove it back on. It's always good to keep one on hand. My Grand Caravan's belt would fall off if it was driven through big puddles.
