Have a really good look at the main 2 bumper bolts on the rear valance/brackets above the muffler and it's mirror part on the other side.

Spray with plenty PB blaster/Deep Creep before tackling, but when you try to undo the bolts feel for how much resistance you have trying to undo the bolts. They shear either just above the head or at the top when they are seized in the captured nut in the bumper bracket.

This may give you an idea, but the V70 doesn't have the inner 10mm bolt on the sides, but has 2 sliders instead. Otherwise the same.

Good luck!

Neil.
Thanks Neil. Are you saying at the local Pick and Pull, they let you put your car up on a lift??

Re the PB blaster, would I spray this onto the 10mm bolt (both the bolt head and the exterior portion of bolt too?) Never used it before.

I'll have to find the part number of those rivets so I can order them BEFORE I start doing this hah.

I can't imagine why Volvo designed these dumb plastic vents to be inserted from behind the bumper, what a stupid idea.

No, PnP don't let you use any for of hoist/jack. Our local PnP's raise the cars up and place them on 2 wheels welded together in the form of a 'T' and fit the 'base' of the 'T' under the rear of the car and 2 more under the front floor on both sides. This raises the car up about 18" off the ground. Plenty of room even for my bulk to get under!

Raising the car up gives better access to look at what you are trying to do.

Good luck!

Neil.

Any installation pictures of the process? It'd give help to the future new member seeking bumper parts advice.
