DICE won't communicate with car

Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out why my Chinese Clone DICE won;t communicate with my 2003 XC70.
My set up as follows:
- Chinese DICE with multi-coloured LEDs and green PCB
- VIDA 2014D
- Window 7 Pro 32bit
- DICE firmware version 5.6.2

Symptoms:
- VIDA installed with no problem
- VIDA recognises the DICE unit (named DICE-206751) on Vehicle Profile screen
- In DICE configuration, the Test Communication Tool passes
- When DICE bridged between car and computer, the Firmware LED blinks green, the USB interface LED is yellow steady with flashes occasionally, tge Bluetooth LED comes on then goes off, BUT the Vehicle Interface Statues LED does not lit.
- When attempt to read the Vehicle, predictably it fails.

- If I connect the DICE unit to my Saab 9-3 the Vehicle Interface Statues LED does come on and even blinks.

Does that mean the OBD port on my XC70 is bad? It does power the dice though.

I have the exact same problem except the car is a 1999 v70. The vehicle interface LED does not come on. Have you found out anything?

An additional question: When is the vehicle interface LED supposed to come on? When you plug in the OBD connector and turn ignition to II position? Does the USB cable have to be connected in order for the vehicle interface LED to come on? If so, must you do something with the VIDA software before it comes on? This information would help to narrow down the problem because, for example, if you knew that the LED normally comes on the moment you connect the OBD cable, regardless of what happens at the computer, then you would know that the problem is not caused by the computer or the VIDA software.

Vida does not work if Microsoft's .net framework is installed. Uninstall it and it will communicate.

I am skeptical about that..

I should start by saying that I just got mine, and I had to fiddle a bit, but I did get it working. I would note that I really only have success when I use the 32-bit IE - I have IE8, I gather that IE9 would also work, but I haven't tried it. I am not at all sure why the 64-bit version of IE doesn't work, but I suspect mainly because the 64-bit browser can't load 32-bit dlls.

When I have IE8 running, I can use various tools to see what dlls are loaded by IE. I see *tons* of .NYET dlls loaded into iexplore.exe that are produced by "Volvo Car Corporation". In addition there is a module for DICE called TS that gets loaded into IE. If I try a 64-bit IE, most of that stuff simply isn't loaded.

One other thing I have noted is that if I have multiple instances of IE running (or multiple tabs, all connected to VIDA), then the communication starts to fail. You need to stick to a single tab as best I can tell.

The recommended software is WinXP and Win7 for later versions. I have VIDA running in a virtual Win7 window on my Win10 laptop for this reason. I have yet to buy a DICE unit to try with this but still I can look up diagrams, read procedures, etc.

I think virtual is really the way to go these days. You can keep a working configuration, and upgrade the host if you choose to.
