My 04 xc90 t6 Has no take off power when you push the excelerator to the floor from a dead stop it takes way to long to pick up speed,1 minute to get to 40mph, also a strong gas smell. once you get up to speed it runs just OK. This started overnight as it ran great last time i used it. Removed and cleaned the MAF with no change. Plan on getting the codes read about (1hr drive to do so) as the CK engine light flashes for about a minute or two then stays on. Will the codes tell me if it is the MAF??? I have a (Not sure if i want to drive the car 2hr round trip)
bosch f ooc 2g2 065 sensor.Does anyone know if this is the correct sensor for the xc90t6. When i first removed the MAF i thought it was that for sure as their is no visable hot wire just prongs that look like a wire would be in them but after seeing pic of a duralast DL 3067 i saw that no hot wire is visable. Any advise before i drive 2hr would be helpful, Maybe avoid a 65mile tow.
PLEASE DO NOT SAY "TAKE IT TO A DEALER" AS THE LOCAL VOLVO IS DEALER IS A TOTAL RIPOFF. THX JIM

Welcome to MVS
A flashing CEL indicates a misfire, usually a coil or coils. Try accelerating gently, keep your RPMs up, and your load low, this will make the hour drive easier. Go to nearest auto parts store that reads codes, look for P030X number at X will tell you which coil is toast.
I have replaced all six of mine in the past two years.
Good Luck

thank you for your info. I see that you own a 04xc90 t6 as i do. I just purchassed this at auction with 100k and it drove fine for about a week. I was planning to tow as it was rated for about 4k with brakes. After purchass i found out about the tranny problem with this model xc90. What have your expearances been with this ???? any advice???
(looka like a mistake but that water under the bridge) I am also trying to determin if i have the correct MAF. Bosch was no help nore was the dealer. Would you happen to know the Bosch Part number of the sensor only ???? mine ends in 065 and has no exposed "U"shaped hot wire just "V" shaped posts that look like a wire should be their. On SweedSpeed foum a member says he has a crossreferance for the various maf numbers but he has not yet got back to me. As to me most MAFs look alike but the ebay price varies greatley. I plan on taking to get codes read next week will let you know how it goes.
Thank you so much

That's exactly how I found this forum. Purchased ours with 120ish, 2nd day we had it--Transmission Service Urgent--- message on DIM. So I paid 12k for an 8k SUV. But like you say, water under the bridge. I have towed with mine, pulling cars on dollies, and a couple times on trailers. I don't know that I recommend a full load though. Really had to push mine on last trip, and I just lost my head gasket. (it's at 179k miles, and the thing was sludgy when we got it.) So, while it's down, I'll pull the whole motor, change rear main that leaks, do full PCV service, change all the valve seals, replace turbo coolant lines and return pipe O-rings, RH motor mount, and check vacuum lines for a turbo overboost code. As far as the MAF, I'm coding for that as well. I would look at one of the online Volvo parts places like Savannah or Oak Park, or one of the vendors (FCP or eEuro now has an online parts breakdown) Find your favorite 2 or 3 and bookmark them. Or call dealer and have them ID by VIN.
Welcome to the club. Perform good preventive maintenance, find out what you can about maintenance history, and start looking for a replacement transaxle, it's not an if, but a when.

I highly recommend reading the codes before just replacing random parts. See what the ECU thinks is the problem first!
You don't necessarily need to take it to a dealer. Some auto parts stores will read the codes for you. Or for ~$100 you can get your own scan tool.
Volvo uses a program / interface called VIDA - "Volvo Information and Diagnostics for Aftermarket". This includes all of the manuals, procedures for repair, parts diagrams etc. - if you're going to work on the vehicle yourself, it's worthwhile. Can be found on ebay for not too much. The second part to this is the "DiCE" which is the interface between the car and VIDA - USB on one side, and an OBD-II connector on the other to plug into the car. There is a HUGE amount of information available there. The DiCE can be found on eBay also, or from Ali Express - inexpensive Chinese version for ~$100 that seems to work pretty well.
Sometimes, if you ask, you can find someone nearby that has a VIDA/DiCE setup that will help you out by reading your car. (I actually found a couple of people via facebook Volvo groups, then I got my own...)
Hope this helps! Good luck!
