1998 V70 auto AWD (not currently) Silver 199k $2k Austin, TX

Post by MSLV70 »

Found a deal on a V70R I couldn't pass up, so the daily driver is going up for sale. Thought I would offer it here before heading to CL.

Just before I purchased (Feb 2013 w/ 172k miles), previous owner had the following work done:

Head gasket replaced
head steamed and machined
valve seals replaced
intake and exhaust manifold gaskets
new oil cooler line
new nissens radiator
new bosch MAF sensor

I did the following:

2/2013
New Tires
Water Pump / Timing Belt kit

4/2013

Turbo coolant supply and return lines
Lower and upper radiator lines
Thermostat and thermostat housing
Tune up kit
Cap/Dist/Rotor/Plugs/Wires
Gas cap seal
Gas cap
Reman fuel injector set (to fix hot start issue)
"Fuel Pipe" Part 9445057 (This is piece connected to fuel regulator)
New Key Fob
Fuel filter
New shift knob button
New oil cap/seal
Replaced leaking fuel line check valve installed by previous owner

9/2013
Meyle Control Arm Kit
GMB wheel hubs
Replaced front axles (Axles Unlimited, Inc.)
PCV Breather Kit (IPD)
tie-rod ends
sway bar links

The above parts were replaced when the passenger side factory control arm broke.

11/2013
Replaced Disc/pads ((eEuroparts kit)
AIC Hose

2/2014
Fuel tank vent hose

2/2015
Upgraded to LED interior lights
Replaced both rear lift gate shocks
Replaced rear lift latch
Parking brake hardware/shoes

5/2015
Brake Light switch

8/2015
Replaced both front headlights and side light assemblies (TYC)
Rear cam seals replaced

Unknown dates:

Rear lamp bulbs
Virtually all vacuum lines have been replaced to eliminate various fuel evap codes
Replaced vac control valve multiple times to replace fuel evap codes (current valve is 10 months old)
Drivers side seat belt latch

Extras:

I've got an IPD tailgate panel repair kit that hasn't been installed. Some of the trunk interior pieces were removed to replace the latch and I just left them off. Both the pieces and the repair kit will be included, but probably not installed.

I have a new front passenger side fender liner to replace the one that was damaged when the control arm broke. That will be included as well.

The bad:

Exhaust has a rattle coming from inside the muffler. It's been there since I bought it. I mostly only notice it when the exhaust is cold. I never thought it was worth fixing.

Drivers side door switch is getting sketchy. Sometimes you have to shut the door twice to activate the switch that shuts off dome light, dinger, etc.

Drivers seat has a small section where the stitching on the leather is coming apart.

Drivers seat adjustment seat is sketchy. Sometimes you have to push it forward/back 3 or 4 times before it engages.

Center console lid is slightly damaged. Still closes, but you have to push it a little to the side to get it to latch.

Drivers side headlight wiper will sometimes not reset. It fixes itself randomly after a couple starts of the car.

Driveshaft was removed by previous owner, so no AWD. On the plus side, mileage is pretty good. About 20 in the city.

It does leave a few drips of oil on the garage floor, but nothing major.

Misc:

It's been my daily since I bought it and, while it's had all the typical Volvo issues, it's been pretty reliable. It's never left me stranded and has completed multiple trips from Austin to Dallas/Houston/Tyler/etc without issue.

I'm sure there are other parts that have been replaced and I'll update the above list as I sort through email/invoices from IPD, etc.

Disclaimer: These pics are from when I bought it. Nothing has changed and new pics will be posted upon request or when it heads to CL.
