98 S70 wire hanging -- photo attached

What is the wire that's dangling in this photo ? 98 S70 T5. It's been severed and just hanging, discovered yesterday -- car runs fine but need to know what it is (don't see where it's supposed to connect either).

FYI -- it's about mid chassis more toward the rear a bit, passenger side

Can you see where the wire ends at the rear of the car? I'm with Misha on this, as I can't tell if it is a cable, pipe or electrical cable as there are several that run in that area.

Runs past fuel filter and evap canister, could be a fuel vent line. Have you ever had work done for evap codes? or had the fuel tank dropped for new pump? Maybe last worker just grafted in new segment and left old because of access. As asked, wire, cable or hose?

I'll check and see if a code was thrown. My CEL is on all the time from an evap leak that no one can get fixed.

How many wires and what are their colors (color and stripe)? With the wire colors and the basic location I might be able to find it in the schematics.

That thing behind fuel filter,with rusted holder,is charcoal canister and that wire(connector) could be for evap system shut-off valve or vent valve.

They are usually under the driver's side fender,but there are exceptions.
