2002 V70 random misfire on cylinders 1,2 and 3

Post by ElzieM »

I recently bought an 02 v70 2.4t. It was running fine. I was on the freeway and got into the throttle. Heard a pop And it started running rough and check engine light came on. Upon examination I found the vacuum hose from the fresh air to the turbo had popped off. I reattached it the problem is still present. The codes present are random misfire on cylinders 1,2 and 3, as well as an overboost problem. I have changed the coils and plugs and fuel filter. The air filter was recently changed, as well. Help????

Did you lose the vacuum hose to the Turbo control valve or the air induction hose from air cleaner to turbo?

You need to check all the air induction hoses for leaks

Vacuum hose to TCV. Would these symptoms result from a bad wastegate?

Could be, but turbos on these cars are really reliable. The fresh air to TCV is the dump of excess boost from the CBV to the wastegate, so an overboost will pop that hide.

Did you clear codes? Once the induction is messed up the car will run horribly.

If someone has messed with the wastegate adjustment that will explain it. These cars aren't like the P80s where you can squeeze more boost out..they come ready to play from Sweden.
