Saw this for sale locally today and I've been curious as to what is the spec of the Volvo 850 Sportwagen? Is it a regular 850 T with the 222bhp turbo engine?

Not bad looking old thing with local specialist maintenance claim.
Is this what was called the platinum in this color?
Neil.

Same engine, 222 hp.
For the life of me I don't know what was the difference. It was a VCNA sales gimmick that I do know, they may have had some obscure option, who knows!!
I bought and sold a couple of these 10 or so years ago. I could not find any difference between these and an 850 turbo except they all had pretty much every option you could get in the US.

Thanks Jim. Like you say I was sure it was just some weird marketing edition but thanks for the education as always!
What was the 'Platinum' edition. Was it a 96 and a special color?
Thanks,
Neil.

The gimmick wasn't even restricted to turbo cars, my first 96 NA wagon was a "Sportswagon." I spent a lot of time researching that label and it was very clear at the end: The only difference was the little plastic badge, and it was slapped on various (random) trim levels. Pretty common in the Northeast USA, also.
I peeled off the badge and kept it before I sent the wrecked car for the crusher, so I can convert any one of my cars to a Sportswagon at any time.
