Picked up a 2006 XC90 2.5T AWD with full service history from interstate auction for $1,900 afew weeks ago. Reported in the auction description was transmission trouble and ABS malfunction. Odometer is 177K kilometres or just shy of 110k miles.
When I drove it back from the freight centre I realised that the transmission was fine with great shifts and that the rumbling and squeaking noise was a shot LHS wheel bearing. Upon disassembly I noticed that the bearing had that much slop that it wasn't allowing the ABS sensor to reference properly.
So the list of repairs is now:
2 front spring seats (already fitted)
2 sway bar links (already fitted)
Spark plugs
Front LHS wheel bearing (purchased a GMB)
Bonnet and trunk stays
Ball joints x 2
Timing belt service
Accessory belt and idler
PCV service
Oil & filter
Transmission torque mount
Engine degrease
Driver's seat repair
I'll report in with costs and some more pics as time goes by. This will replace our 2002 XC70 with trans issues.

Upon inspection of the control arms the car will need new bushings which is to be expected at this mileage. Will order them in as well as the gas struts for the hood and tailgate.

Thanks Matthew.
My wife wants to cash in and resell but my proviso on that is only if she pays for the repairs at garage rates
This will be the first P2 Volvo we've owned with reasonably low miles and no transmission problems. That makes it a keeper
