It is, but the dual mass flywheel will not last another clutch cycle. The dual mass flywheel is a throw away item.

My S70 had 254k on its DMF original clutch and flywheel.

But then I can probably say R clutch has the same longevity, since the diameter of the clutch and thickness is roughly the same.

Now, this is of course, for a M56 transmission. If you guys have the 6 speed, then I know nothing about those parts.

abscate, how many miles did you get on your current 2005 V70 clutch?

How many miles could be expected from a single mass clutch?
Les is more.

Just curious - can these flywheels be re-surfaced as with the RWD's?

110k on the 2005 V70 original clutch TTBOMK
180k on he 1999 V70 original clutch

Update

Advice from Volvo specialist - independent. The dual mass clutch collects the dust from the plate and if you put a new clutch plate in, the detonate within a month. i thinkJim had this happen, too.

So its looking like $2000 for the clutch job - plate, flywheel, RMS, clutch hydraulics??
Just curious - can these flywheels be re-surfaced as with the RWD's?
Definitive no from the independent.

There have been tons of issues with the dual flywheel on several car brands plus replacement cost is terrible. Some say the 850r clutch is quite durable, not sure how it fits. If used properly, a single mass clutch would last twice the life of the car, so to speak.

Im looking to see if I can put in a standard flywheel to save costs

Either way, this is a 200,000 mile car so I am not sweating the 1 cpm maintenance item at this point.

Drove it around town, city, highway

No slippage.

I might nurse this for a while before biting off this job
