300 miles of city driving or highway commuting? Mixed conditions? Try going for 100 miles all on the highway with no/very minimal stops.

Are you wanting to have the modules active for any particular reason? Where are you located?

It's been a mix of city and highway. More highway than city.

I have to get it smogged and I live in California's SF bay area... very hard to do a proper drive cycle due to traffic and with one day moving permits, they don't really let you drive at night as no repair shops will be open, of course this really depends on the cop who pulls you over. We're only allowed to have the evap module unready. So with my evap being just fine, it kind of puts me in a bind. I'll do as you suggested though. I'll take a nice long 100 mile road trip and see what happens then.

There are certain driving conditions you have to meet to get all of the monitors to run. You may or may not meet all those even after driving 300 miles. I have seen the procedures listed before on different volvo sites , you will have to search.
You can start here Emissions system drive cycle for readiness
and another https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... rive+cycle and http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/200 ... ection.pdf
These may or not be applicable to your model/year, if not, then you will have to search further.

Thanks for those links. I'll be doing this pretty much all day tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

In CA only, if you cant get the EVAP monitor to go ready you can still pass smog. It's the only one allowed to be not ready, though.

See and that's exactly the issue I'm having and my evap is fine. If within a week I can't get the remaining monitors to set, I'm going to take it in to get it smogged, let it fail, repeat and then see if the DMV will allow me to go to a smog referee to plead my case. One of the conditions of my employment is having a working vehicle. Technically, if I can't get smogged, I can get fired. I'm fairly certain my employers wouldn't be so cruel as to do that as I've been working at my company for over 5 years and I can get a little leeway on this sort of stuff. I'm hoping, though not banking on the idea that CA will grant me a conditional pass if it passes the emissions portion.

This has been a serious pain in the ass though, for sure. Drive cycles seem impossible in the bay area.

If your company fires you for your car not passing smog, you will be buying new Volvos the rest of your life.

You have to have access to a working vehicle - a rental, a loaner all these would fit the definition of your employment condition.

Look at the document that dynbin (?) posted - I think he made reference that there is a CARB ruling that non-ready monitors on Volvos can be ignored pre 1999?

I created a whole separate thread on this as I thought it might be important to CA guys...

HCM, 2 Air, A/C, and EGR
OK - more info

Im not sure what HCM is??

I don't think you have Air injection on this car at all

The AC code is known to get stuck on these cars so that is a phantom

You don't have EGR on this car.

Make sure you have the right ECU - if someone has messed with that you are in big trouble for smog.
