850 odometer - took the pin out to set mileage Topic is solved

I had to change the gears on my 850 odometer as they broke about 10k ago, so thought i would wind the mileage on to be correct whilst i was in there , rather than spend the next week winding it on by hand in my infinite wisdom i decided to take the pin out so i can correct it quickly , now i can get the cogs back onto the shaft easily but cant get it to work correctly.....
all the gears seem identical to me .... has anyone has one of these apatrt and successfully put it back together ???

Yeah, been there, done that. (you normally want to use two shafts, when adjusting your mileage. one from left, one from right, leaving always on cog free...)

Reassembly: start with the original shaft and move it in from the right side (according to your picture), put the first cog onto the shaft and work your way all to the left, using a tweezer holding the cogs, whilst adjusting the numbers to read correctly.

It´s all like mad LEGO technic, but in the end, it will work as it should.

Great that it worked.

You can attach the tiny motor to it and test the whole unit putting a 6V Battery assembly towards it; at every change of +/-, the little cog should move and rotate the green cogs. So, if you want to test before final assemblage.
