ABS sensor issues

Post by RetroF7 »

Good day to all,

Been fighting with my 99 s70 (base model) for about 2 months now. ABS light is on, codes indicate left front wheel sensor. This is what I have done:
1) replaced ABS module with xemodex rebuild
2) swapped sensors around on the car and from another car that had no ABS issues
3) replaced the left front axle and therefore the tone ring
4) replaced wiring from the sensor plug to the ABS module plug
I'm at my wits end with this thing. I even purchased a new scan tool so I could watch the signal from the sensor. Sure enough it cuts in and out while driving. It never goes out completely but it does drop to below 5 mph regardless of the speed traveled.

Thanks in advance,
Ian

hey Ian
Are you able to clear the codes with that new scanner? In my experience tone ring and sensors can be kinda fussy,,,make sure there's no rust flakes hanging around. Blow out tone rings and wipe off those sensors.
Cheers

Is it an abs-0010 or abs-0011?

If it's a signal missing code it's likely that the wiring is broken inside the sheath.

So I fixed it......turns out that little metal ring the the sensor retaining screw goes through is a ground. Cleaned it with emery cloth, chased the threads in both the hole and on the bolt, little dab of never seize and its all good!
